I have not visited in the winter, but there is a third falls that is sometimes visible in the winter above the usual two that is actually higher than Wahclella. Past these falls, after stairs, you will get to a fork in the trail.
The hike itself was simple, but provided lovely views of Tanner Creek almost the entire way. Family Tips- There is a restroom at the trail head and you must either display a NW Forest Pass or pay for day use at the parking kiosk. Also, across the highway is the Bonneville Fish Hatchery, which is a fun spot for kids to run around and see different fish in all stages of life.
